CLAUDIA HEU & DARKO DRAGIČEVIĆ

Invisibility through the Practice of Listening

©

Darko Dragičević

Every person has a story shaped by their origin, nationality, skin color, social class, education, religion, abilities, sexual orientation, and more. Today, these stories become increasingly polarized through inherited forms of belonging, while the gray zones, as spaces of fusion, disappear. These intersections carry the potential for collective forms in which differences become connections.

The workshop explores invisibility not in terms of seeing, i.e., visibility, but rather in terms of what remains unseen or unheard. It seeks to give voice and space to what drives and defines us, asking: What gives us value? How does it relate to heritage, belonging, and status? How can these questions shape artistic research and be applied within artistic practice?

Workshop participants will, among other things, work with photographs from personal archives, which will be activated through somatic practices and applied in a series of collaborative, dialogue-based methodological approaches. Therefore, each participant should bring two photographs from their personal archive, which we will work with during the research process. The first photograph should be one in which the participants themselves appear, although other people may also be present in the image. The second should be a photograph of a space that is connected to one of their memories.

Note: the workshop is open for participation from Monday to Wednesday (20.–22.04) for those who cannot attend daily, while Thursday and Friday (23.–24.04) are closed to drop-ins.
