Being padded. How to create speculative hiding places and loopholes that cover and wrap themselves around bodies in a protective manner? Submerging yourself in a sense of security and letting yourself go. Lisa Hinterreithner’s settings develop from materials and actions – and in communality. In padded, convertible micro housings emerge as places of retreat, as regenerative sites, as safe(r) spaces. Or maybe carrier bags and containers like those conceived of by sci-fi visionary Ursula K. Le Guin as a feminist narrative. The performance focuses on nuances instead of extremes, delicacy instead of self-assertion. Pleasure arises from a sense of security.

Lisa Hinterreithner
intertwines bodies and materials in her artistic practice, seeking to find performance formats that address issues of representation and participation. She often brings audiences, performers and objects together in joint processes. Her current focus is on touch and touchability, especially between human and more-than-human beings.
