The three-day theory festival investigates bodily fluids as political substances. Through stories of blood, sweat, sperm, tears, and other fluids that pass through our bodies, this year’s edition of the Winter School explores ways to bring about agency beyond visibility and representation.

With: Zsófia Bacsadi, Ari Ban, Estelle Benazet Heugenhauser, Giorgio Brocco, Elijah Doro, Lindsey Drury, Luz de Luna Duran, Layal Ftouni, Moira Hille & Ruth Sonderegger, Lens Kühleitner, Gosia Lehman & Valerian Blos

Water and poison, blood and plasma, bile and tears, sperm and sweat: this year’s Winter School explores bodily fluids as politicized substances. Looking at the bodily scars that are nation and gender, class and colonialism, it seeks agency beyond a politics of visibility, representation, and identity: in creative contaminations, in imperfect negotiations, and in the pain and pleasure that break the illusion of individualized corporeality. Through a three-day program of talks, discussions, lecture-performances, workshops, readings, and more, squirt spill seep swell stream and again thinks the visceral impact of politics – and the bodily stakes of resistance – through the liquids that inhabit and make us.
