  • Artist Bio

    Michikazu Matsune

born in Kobe, Japan, has lived and worked in Vienna since the 1990s. At the crossroads between documentary and conceptual performance where poetry, humour, the absurd, and criticism meet, his work examines the relationship between identity and globalisation, action and language, public and private, as in Goodbye (2016), All Together (2018), or Mitsouko & Mitsuko (2021). Matsune teaches performance practice and is a visiting tutor at the University of Arts Linz and Iceland University of the Arts. He is currently part of the Mentoring Programme of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna.

    Martine Pisani

born in Marseille, has been working as a choreographer in Paris since the 1980s. She founded the Compagnie du Solitaire in 1992 and has created over twenty shows, such as Le grand combat (1993), sans (2000), Undated (2017), and Bouillir le vide, un récital (2020). Her group piece Slow Down was shown at Tanzquartier Wien in 2005. Her playful and poetic world, far from all formalism, examines the relevance of movement and the artifices of performance. She lives near Paris with Dutch painter and performer Theo Kooijman, who has worked as a dancer, assistant, and set designer within the company since its foundation.
