What does it mean to be able to unfold oneself in a space, an area, an activity? How can we acknowledge differences, value dancers’ individuality, and see these as opportunities for creativity? What do we know about reducing abuse in dance? Hard training, daily engagement with one’s body, multitasking, and working conditions often leave little room to consider our individual needs. The relevance of care for oneself and others plays a vital role in the field of dance.
This workshop aims to define relevant topics such as safeR space, feedback, and correction in the context of dance and dance education. It highlights ways to integrate these themes into daily dance practice, deal with boundaries, and create a learning and working space where comfort resources are available.
The workshop will be facilitated by Friederike Decker, Leonie Frühe and Mathea Mierl in collaboration with the hausgemacht collective.

is a Vienna-based anti-racist, feminist collective. As a non-profit association, it creates, maintains and protects SafeR Spaces for Flinta* people. The hausgemacht awareness team consists of 12 core members and draws on a varying number of external helpers depending on the event.
