DIEGO ALBERTO ALVAREZ SANÓU

The Life of Floorwork

The basic idea of this workshop is to understand the elements that enable us to move through space – jumping, going up and down, and playing in a continuous flow with our own bodies or with others. It is crucial to train and practice in order to explore the full range of movement that our bodies can achieve. The workshop consists of two parts referring to two important questions: How does my body move through space? How can I go in and out of the floor?

The first part of the class consists of a warm-up, exercise repetition, and studying key movement elements. We focus on entering and exiting the floor, weight distribution, leg mobility, and body flexibility. Being aware of our bodies and recognizing the muscular effort needed for exercises is essential as we move through low, medium, and high levels.

The second section focuses on individuality in movement, emphasizing that only the performer can truly interpret their sequence. It involves using skills and experiences from training to express a unique personality. Ultimately, the key is to enjoy the process of movement.
