WINONA HUDEC & LAU LUKKARILA

Pitchfall

Electric guitars, ardor, merch, screaming crowds, to be part, to know the gestures, the lingo, the lyrics, to be familiar with the intricacies, to be a groupie. Pitchfall is a work-in-progress showing of an ongoing research into the zest of fandom – an electric and complicated space where adoring something intensely blends into embodiment. Navigating questions of social access and erasure within a commodified cultural landscape and an ongoing cultural appropriation, Winona Hudec and Lau Lukkarila reminisce on spectacles and phenomena of fandom as well as personal archives of adoring. Structured around songs and instruments, scenes embrace a tension between rehearsal and liveness.
