MARIA HASSABI

In this brief workshop, Maria Hassabi will share her practice with the participants by teaching material from her previous works. Over two decades, she has used stillness, deceleration, and precision to develop a practice based on the relationship between the live body, the still image, and the sculptural object. Through a meticulous approach – where every action is subject to counts and cues – the body’s relation to gravity, time and space is in constant negotiation, anchoring the dancers’ awareness to the present moment. At the same time, the physical side effects of labour are revealed. People of all levels are welcome.
