CEM / GUIDING LIGHT / EVELYN PLASCHG

LO AND BEHOLD

Cem Dukkha, aka CEM, will present his debut album FORMA from the eponymous performative installation piece directed by Mauro Ventura. In collaboration with Alexander Iezzi (drums) and Dylan Kerr (bells and flute), the existing sound piece will be rewritten and reimagined in a live format that presents the content of the original work.

Guiding Light is a project by artists Artjom Astrov, Michaela Kisling and Till Megerle. Their video work and band practice can be defined as deep ‘hanging out’ that is neither predetermined nor random. The trio plays with extremes and contradictions such as ‘realness’ and ‘artificiality’ as both visual and performative tools in order to continually question the essence of their work. To hang out deeply isn’t merely a genre of music but a form of labour that embodies inexplicable sounds, intimate or sometimes banal situations, and carefully assembled visuals.

The elusive sound performances by artist Evelyn Plaschg feature a tenor recorder that includes vocals and electronic synth elements. Her soft, atmospheric vocals and ephemeral sonic palette turn the pieces into crystalline gems, reminiscent of obscure folk tales. (Shilla Strelka, Unsafe & Sounds)

  • Artist Bio

    CEM

is known for his meteoric rise alongside the notorious Herrensauna party. CEM is a sound artist and musician pioneering experimental atmospherics and compositions. The Berlin-based artist is forging his namesake as a tour de force in crafting visceral and uncanny sound artworks that intend to explore sonic landscapes, creating a field of hallucinations that reach and aim to stimulate the psyche, even at its most delirious state.

    Guiding Light

started as a series of videos released on YouTube by the music label Serious Serious (Guiding Light I-III, 2021). These were followed by performances commissioned by Kunsthalle Wien (Guiding Light IV, 2022) and Tallinn’s Kanuti Gildi SAAL (Guiding Light V, 2023).

    Evelyn Plaschg

studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and at the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris. Works by her were shown e.g. at Belvedere 21, Pina and Kunstverein Nürnberg. Plaschg performed at Unsafe+Sounds Festival (2023), Kunsthalle Bremerhaven (2021), Belvedere 21, Vienna (2019) and at Salzburger Kunstverein (2018). Musical collaborations include projects with Asfast, In My Talons, Soap&Skin and Christian Ingemann.
