Hypermasculinity?

Hypermasculinity? looks at (artistic) affirmations of stereotypes traditionally associated with masculinity. This will include bodybuilding as much as machismo, the affirmation of power and (sexual) violence or certain aesthetics and art forms, such as hip hop. Meanwhile, the affirmation of masculinity will also serve as the basis for a critique of normative gender images by exposing the construct of gender, especially in the context of so-called ‘female masculinity’ or gay (hyper)masculinity.
