DORIS UHLICH & BORIS KOPEINIG

Bodymusic on the Big Stage

©

© Theresa Rauter

After many sessions at TQW Studios, Bodymusic will take place on 16 December in an expanded dimension in Hall G. This means a larger dance floor, immersion in light and fog, long DJ sets, and above all, more people dancing. Hall G like groove!

One room, 1,5 hours of music, dance to it or not. This concentrated setting is what choreographer Doris Uhlich and DJ Boris Kopeinig propose to move – alone or together – beyond functionalist ideas of the dancefloor, to lose oneself in the sound and to find oneself (perhaps in a different way). Doris Uhlich will kick it off with a short warm-up and give impulses for movement. Then Boris Kopeinig will take over with a live DJ set, building on a long preoccupation with ambient, drone, new wave, and techno.

    Doris Uhlich

is an Austrian choreographer, performer and dance pedagogue. In her productions, she often questions standard formats and body images: among other things, she works with people with different biographies and physical inscriptions, shows the potential of nudity beyond eroticisation and provocation, examines the relationship between man and machine in a multi-layered way or deals with the future of the human body in the age of its surgical and genetic perfection. Doris Uhlich has received numerous prizes and awards.

    Boris Kopeinig

is an electronic media artist and DJ, working in techno, electronic music, video, and internet art. His DJ sets are driven by technoid rhythms and synthetic frequencies, exploring zones of sound experimentation and dance floor celebration.
