Village Season 2026/27

How do we live together, and how do we move? What forms of coexistence are still possible in an era of increasing fragmentation? With these pressing questions on the horizon, Tanzquartier Wien is launching the “Village Season” for the 2026/27 season, often venturing beyond the MuseumsQuartier to do so. Here’s a preview of the first highlights of our fall program.

In the wake of the World Cup, Ahilan Ratnamohan and the KlappSquad will open the Village Season in September, transforming the rituals of soccer into street dance in a participatory performance with club soccer players. TQW, 1210 Wien, and Junge Theater Wien invite you to the kick-off on the field in Floridsdorf!

Internationally acclaimed performance artist Dana Michel cannot swim and therefore has an ambivalent relationship with water. For her solo performance YOU CANNOT CAN, she transforms a swimming pool in Vienna’s 15th district into a space for confronting fear and fragile resilience.

Numerous world premieres by local artists form the backbone of the Village Season. In her work, Viennese choreographer Karin Pauer explores the reverberations of planetary catastrophe. In her new group piece ghosts & monsters, she will explore what remains and what emerges anew in unstable ecologies at TQW Halle G in early October.

And a very special highlight to be marked on every calendar will be the major retrospective 20 Years of Doris Uhlich in November – more on that after the summer break.

We’ll announce the full performance program in early September. Ticket sales will begin at the same time.
